Hello!
It’s a new year which means lots of gorgeous new brides tying the knot and beginning their search for the dream wedding dress. Lots of the brides who come to Champagne & Charlotte tell me they want a dress that they feel they haven’t seen before. There are so many wedding dresses in the world right now that you can get a bit ‘dress blind’ and just feel as though you have seen the same ivory dress a million times. Here are some of the current trends to look out for if you want a modern, fashion-forward dress.
Statement Bows
Since the fabulous royal weddings, which featured both Meghan and Princess Eugenie opting for simpler styles, the demand for a stunningly simple crepe or mikado has increased dramatically. And what gives these plainer materials that bit of extra wow, a huge statement bow of course! Below are our two favourites, Blue by Enzoani, Marla and Elbeth Gillis’, Vivian. Both are detachable and the dresses can be made without the bows (but where is the fun in that?!).
Pearl Detail
Pearls are EVERYWHERE right now. You see them on headbands, jewellery, jumpers and of course, wedding dresses. Pearls look amazing as an alternative for silver beading with lace if you want something a bit more subtle and look equally gorgeous with a simpler wedding dress in crepe, mikado or satin. Jin (Top) is from our Blue by Enzoani range. Jin is a mermaid, sweetheart gown, finished off perfectly with beautiful pearl buttons. We have this sample in ivory and it is so elegant. Next, we have Francis (Bottom) by Elbeth Gillis. Francis is a fitted crepe wedding gown with daring front and back lines. Illusion insets in the sides and scattered pearl beading along the waistline This gown can be personalised by adding a delicate pearl illusion cap sleeve. Or if you prefer something a little longer, add a hand-beaded flared sleeve, as shown in the photo.
Blush/Nude Underlay
Now I know it’s traditional to have a white (ivory) wedding dress, but have you seen the incredible options out there with different underlays?! Having a blush or a nude under an ivory lace is amazing for a number of reasons. 1) The added depth and detail is super flattering and helps to smooth and disguise any areas you’re not absolutely in love with. 2) It makes the ivory lace really stand out and look special. 3) It can complement your colouring better. 4) It is just super cute and gorgeous, trust me. Below we have Stephanie Allin’s Miami in blush, available with or without the cuff sleeves. Then Martina from Blue by Enzoani in an ivory/nude combo.
Long Trains
It’s your wedding day and you want drama (in your dress, not like your party aunty Mildred kissing one of the groomsmen). What would be better than an absolutely show-stopping train on your wedding dress? Just think of the amazing photos. If you think a statement long train is for you then look no further than our flagship Enzoani collection because no one does long trains better. Not only are they crazy beautiful, they are also really light which means easy manoeuvring and easy bustleability. (This isn’t a word apparently, but it should be. I just mean they are easy to bustle up for the evening so you don’t have the long train still down for everyone to stand on and you can dance the night away!) Here we have our lace beauty, Olyvia, and then Mckinley below that.
3D Lace, Appliqués and Bold Motifs
And finally, 3d lace, appliqués and motifs. Gone are the days of a flat lace. If you want something a bit more current, you will absolutely love the incredible different laces that are around at the moment. It is the perfect way to give extra detail without loads of sparkle and bling. Take a look at our gorgeous Marlowe and always stunning, Lesley, from Blue by Enzoani. Both have bolder, more standout laces and they are so beautiful and eye catching.
So there we have it, some of the top wedding dress tends to look out for in 2020. I hope you find the most amazing wedding dress and if I can help with anything at all, just let me know. Our brides know that Champagne & Charlotte Bridal is the place to come for an extra special experience and amazing wedding dresses!
